Godalming Operatic Society - Ballads, Songs and Snatches

On Sunday, 24th April Society members and friends had a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment from Godalming Operatic Society accompanied by the very talented Eralys Fernandez on the piano. As we have come to expect from this society, the performance was marked by clear diction, high quality singing and great comedy.

For the first half, we were treated to excerpts from The Gondoliers, Patience, Ruddigore, Princess Ida and this part ended with audience participation with songs from The Mikado. After the interval we enjoyed excerpts from The Yeomen of the Guard and then a selection of non G & S songs. The concert ended with the audience joining in with part of the finale to Act 1 of The Pirates of Penzance, culminating in a rousing “Hail Poetry”.
