The Grave of Arthur Sullivan

He died in 1900 and wished to be buried with his parents and brother in Brompton Cemetery however by the order of Queen Victoria he was laid to rest in St Paul’s Cathedral.

His memorial, by Welsh sculptor Sir William Goscombe John, is to be found in the Embankment Gardens, opposite the Savoy Hotel.

The monument features a distraught weeping Muse of Music, clinging to the pedestal apparently worshipping the bust of Sir Arthur, who is facing the Savoy Hotel.
